Train Times - Tables

A simple colourful visual aid to introduce the concept of tables (up to 5 x table).

As the train comes out of the tunnel, the train is stopped to reveal a certain number of carriages and sets of people within. How many people are there showing? Children will start by counting the people and move on to counting in 3s, 4s or 5s etc. leading to 4 x 3 = 12 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3.

Set includes 3 trains and 1 tunnel. Photocopiable masters available as a download.
