Lorry Loads are mental maths
cards for individual, group or
whole class teaching. A set of 18 cards show a double-sided
number line with the patterns of 0-17 on the reverse of 17-0.
Thus 16 backs 1 and 15 backs 2 etc. Hold the card up. Can
the children tell you the number on the reverse which will
make 17? Which strategy will they use to find out the
answer? (Eg. counting on, near double or place value).
Use
on
the carpet as a self-correcting individual or group game.
Photocopiable worksheets extend the principle and make
15,
16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.
